Our story begins with Charlie. Charlie loves his garden, his prized carp koi fish and listening to music from the good old days… and he has a habit for projects.
His town is struggling with an abundance of rubbish and Charlie decides to take on this problem and make a change. At first his quirky neighbours are behind him, but soon their support diminishes. Will Charlie succeed or will it all end in flames?
This Show is Rubbish tells the story of one man’s quest to rid the streets of rubbish. A classic tale of a hero’s struggle… or it might just be a load of old rubbish.
My role on this project was to introduce the idea of storytelling theatre to the cast, supply a basic story and structure, then lead the initial devising process up to the collaborative creation of the storyboard, before I shifted to a dramaturgical role; pulling together the casts ideas and creating the text for the production.
